Frequently Asked Questions
• How many pellets of each size of Super Shot are in one ounce? 103 pellets per ounce of no. 5 shot
183 pellets per ounce of no. 7 shot
250 pellets per ounce of no. 8 shot

Note: In the past, hunters have beefed up pellet counts to accomodate for large quantities of flyer pellets and long shot strings. These problems do not exist with Super Shot. Please see the Technical section for pattern density requirements.
• What equipment do I need to reload TSS? You NEED to have, and USE, the following three pieces of equipment at a minimum"
1. A single stage reloading tool such as the MEC 600 Jr.
2. A balance beam or digital scale to weigh powder and shot charges
3. A caliper to verify wad seating depth
• Will you guarantee shotgun barrels against damage by Tungsten Super Shot? We absolutely cannot guarantee gunbarrel protection from Tungsten Super Shot. DO NOT shoot Tungsten Super Shot through any gunbarrel that you cannot stand to see scratched. This issue is covered in the prepurchase agreement. Please read it carefully before ordering.
• What wads do you use in TSS loads? We use only the Ballistic Products TPS 1275 wad which we alter by cutting to the proper length and make tangent, rather than radial, slits between petals. The stock wads will result in increased chamber pressures and reduce barrel protection from Tungsten Super Shot.
• What chokes should I use with with TSS loads? Turkey hunters can use their existing chokes. We discourage the use of chokes with exit diameters of less than .670 due to blown patterns and potential choke tube scratching.

Waterfowl hunters shooting at normal ranges out to 50 yards, are best off with a cylinder tube or skeet constriction at the most.

For long range pass shooting at waterfowl, a choke of improved cylinder or light modified will provide all the pattern density you will ever need. PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO LOOK AT THE PATTERN PHOTOS IN THE BALLISTICS SECTION. These photos are not "ringers". they were shot with stock barrels. Expect the same performance from your gun.

If you intent to shoot Tungsten Super shot from the blind through your modified or full choke barrel at normal ranges, PLEASE DO NOT BUY OUR PRODUCT. Again, look at the 40 yd full choke pattern picture.
• How are the Tungsten Super Shot loads developed and how do we know thay are safe? All published loads have been tested and developed in conjunction with Clear View Products of Oklahoma City, OK. Larry Nailon conducts pressure and velocity tests as a business. All loads have had shot strings run at room temperature through calibrated pressure cannon and chronograph to insure consistency of safe pressure levels and velocities within Industry standards.

In addition, strings are shot after cold soaking shells for four hours at 0 degrees F to insure cold weather performance.
• Whats the current status of barrel protection? Our latest load configurations have been shot through multiple gunbarrels with no visible effect.

In addition, we have shot several hundred rounds through barrels using much inferior protection than we are using today. While these barrels DO have scratches, the bore diameters have not changed by any appreciable amount and we will continue to use them.

We shoot Tungsten Super Shot only through mass produced guns which have replacable barrels, designed for steel shot.

These statements imply no warranty, only the facts of our testing to date. Tungsten Super Shot is harder than gunbarrels and a shotgun blast is a controlled explosion.
• Can I substitute components in the reloading formulas? Absolutely NOT. Dont do it!!!
• Why do I have to buy kits which include wads and hulls to go with loose shot? The ingredients in our kits work THE BEST. It would be much easier and convenient for us to NOT go through all of the trouble to alter, assemble, and pack all of this stuff. By spoon feeding the required components, we hope to minimze the inclination that reloaders have to "tinker". We have spent hundreds, if not thousands, of hours to develop these loads. You are wasting your time, inviting danger, and asking for increased barrel scratching by trying to wildcat these recipes.
• What about the 20 ga. loads? We are still working on 20 gauge loads. At this time, we do not have a wad that we are satisfied with regarding barrel protection. We working with wad manufacturers at present to address that problem. The 20 gauge is a fantastic performer with Tungsten Super Shot.
• How does Tungsten Super Shot compare with HEVI-SHOT and the latest "high performance pellets" from the big companies? The difference in density between Tungsten Super Shot and their "high performance pellets" is greater than the difference in density between lead and steel. Think about that...
• What is the density of TSS, and how does it compare to other materials? Here is a quick comparison of TSS to other materials.
